SLEEPOUT on Friday 16th March 2012 in the grounds of St Mary-at-Latton Church, in The Gowers, off First Avenue, CM20 2JP opposite the stainless steel sculpture.
9.30pm to 6.30am.
Open to the public to join.
The purpose of the sleepout is to highlight homelessness and to raise funds for Streets2Homes through sponsorship.
Firstly thank you for showing an interest in joining this event.
Who can take part? Anyone over 18 on their own account
Anyone over 13 as long as they are supervised by a responsible adult present and have their parent’s or guardian’s consent.
WHAT TO DO BEFORE March 16th:
1. We would prefer if you gave us your name in advance for convenience and catering purposes phone: 01279 430011 or email manager.s2h@talktalkbusiness.net to register.
2. Find some people to sponsor you for an amount of money.
WHAT TO BRING:
Your Registration Form (but adults may fill it in on the spot)
Your sponsorship form -- to get it stamped and certified as completed on the Saturday morning.
A sleeping bag or bags (!) and blankets --- Bring more rather than less.
Wear warm clothing – enough layers!
Some like a cardboard-box (waterproofed) for over their head. & sleeping mat
Waterproof groundsheet or heavy plastic that goes both under & over you –-vital.
WHAT NOT TO BRING:
Pets, a tent, a football, valuables & CDs, mp3’s or alcohol.
TIMETABLE
9.30 to 10.30: Meet in the church for refreshments
10.30 to 11.00: out to sleep. Or
The church will be open for prayer from 10.30 to 11pm.
PARKING:
There is ample parking around the church including the grassed areas. But please avoid parking outside peoples homes in The Gowers. The museum car-park will also be available.
WHAT HAPPENS OVERNIGHT?
You sleep in the grounds. Toilets will be open all night. Security will patrol to ensure your safety.
WHAT HAPPENS THE NEXT MORNING?
You get up from 6.30am onwards, get your Sponsorship form stamped, and, if you wish, have something to eat and drink. Remove cardboard etc. Leave nothing behind
Then go to a cosy home !!
WHAT TO DO AFTER THAT:
Collect your sponsorship money.
